2008 Commemoration Events Schedule

    PROFILES IN CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVISM
On display in the Diversity Studies Room, 109 Pattee Library.
It features the Jack Rabin Collection on Alabama Civil Rights and Southern Activists that documents the historic 1965 March from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. The exhibition also includes items from the Robert Joyce Collection, and materials from the Penn State University Archives, including Dr. King's speech at Penn State in 1968.

An exhibit featuring posters designed by Penn State students, is on display in the Pattee Library main exhibit area.

  LIFTING THE VEIL: THE JACK RABIN COLLECTION ON ALABAMA CIVIL RIGHTS AND SOUTHERN ACTIVISTS

The presentations will highlight rare security surveillance photographs from the files of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, original audio clips of previously unreleased speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rev. Ralph Abernathy, and archived film footage, featuring civil rights activist Stokely Carmichael and the 1964 Voting Rights movement. The event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a Q and A session.
